In interviews, Meis has spoken openly about the major surgery in which she preventively had her stomach removed due to a hereditary form of stomach cancer. During her recovery, she found the words, sounds, and rhythm to translate her emotions into music, ultimately leading to her debut album Zwart/Wit—an indie record that moves between illness and recovery, between anger and acceptance, but above all, sheds light on hope.

Since winning Mooie Noten in 2018, Meis has steadily claimed her place. With a successful Popronde, support shows for artists like Eefje de Visser, Bazart, and Portland, her first EP Een, and the critically acclaimed Zwart/Wit, she has proven herself to be a unique voice in the Dutch music scene. Her first club tour through the Netherlands and Belgium, along with her debut album, was a huge success.

Now, a new chapter is about to begin. Meis is working on a second album, where her signature honesty merges with a new, rawer sound. In the 2025/2026 theater season, she will embark on her first solo theater tour—a bold step that will further showcase her interdisciplinary talents. The world of Meis is expanding—more immersive than ever.
